What to Expect

Rezūm therapy is performed within your urologist’s office in just minutes. The entire therapy session will last less than 30 minutes.

What you can expect with Rezūm:

• A healthcare provider will numb the area before the procedure to reduce discomfort.
• The instrument goes through your urethra, so you won’t have incisions or need stitches.
• Your urologist will inject the water vapor or steam into the targeted prostate tissue.
• The steam will start to destroy cells and break apart legions.
• The urinary channel is now free to open once the legions are gone
• Each individual treatment takes about 10 seconds. Up to 15 treatments can be given during one procedure.
• Your urologist will determine the number of treatments you need based on the size of your prostate.

After the procedure you can expect:

• To use a catheter to help you urinate until the swelling goes down
